Statement on the Attack at the Islamic Center in San Diego

The Leonard I. Beerman Foundation is profoundly pained by the murderous attack on the Islamic Center in San Diego, in which three innocent people were killed.  The scourge of hate-filled violence in our society, so often directed against those deemed foreign or marginal, must be stopped.  Recalling Leonard Beerman’s deep ties to the Muslim community, we stand in solidarity and sorrow with our beloved Muslim friends in this dark moment.  We pledge to continue our work to eliminate Islamophobia in our midst—and to fulfill the central Muslim and Jewish teaching that “to save one life is to save the entire world.”
